Farmed or ‘plantation’ Kratom is a more and more prevalent type of Kratom, primarily due to the increasing demand on supply. Traditionally (for thousands of years), Kratom has been almost exclusively harvested in the wild. Kratom is a fast-growing tropical evergreen that grows back with lightning quickness and responds to defoliation with exponential growth. The more you gather, the more it grows - pure magic. Wild Kratom is 100% sustainable.
Farmed Kratom isn’t all bad - it has provided a steady source of income and relief from poverty for many working in Indonesia's Palm and Rubber industries. However, we believe Nature knows best, and Wild Kratom has consistently higher alkaloid levels than its domesticated counterpart. Like anything, there are varying grades of farmed Kratom, yet the majority is considered low-grade. As is the unfortunate reality in many Southeast Asian countries, much of the farmland soil is contaminated with toxic pesticides and heavy metals - a big problem considering how many Kratom vendors fail to perform third-party laboratory testing on their products.
