Although Kratom is still relatively new here in the USA, people have been using this herb for centuries in Southeast Asia, where it naturally grows. Kratom grows in the forests of Borneo, off the riverbank of Kapuas and throughout Indonesia. For many years before it became popular here, Kratom was a central part of the culture and lives of the people living in these jungle paradises. They would use it for ceremonial purposes, holistic purposes or to help the local laborers get through their long and intense work in the blazing heat. If you are new to Kratom, you have probably noticed that there are many different names for the Kratom you see for sale. These names are called strains of Kratom. They usually combine color and region. Popular strains include Red Bali, Green Hulu Kapuas or White Borneo. You might have also come across Maeng Da or Trainwreck. While the names you see are largely marketing, there is a method to the madness. Kratom strains differentiate from one another because the alkaloid profiles are different. Everything from the type of soil to the age of the tree, to the weather conditions to drying technique will determine the concentrations of alkaloids found in the Kratom.
